Vamos ver a conjugação e tradução, deste verbo já conhecido e muito usado, nos dois tempos verbais:

Present tense verb to be (Tempo presente do verbo ser/estar):
I am................Eu sou/Eu estou

We are............Nós somos/Nós estamos

Past tense of the verb to be (Tempo passado do verbo to be)

O verbo tob be tem as seguintes formas no pasado:
*Afirmativa;
*Interrogativa;
*Negativa.

Affirmative form (forma afirmativa)
I was - fui, está, era
You were - foste, foi, estás, estava, eras, era
He was - foi, está, era
She was - foi, estava, era
It was - foi, estava, era
We were - fomos, estávamos, éramos
You were - foram, estavam, eram
They were - foram, estavam, eram

Interrogative form (forma interrogativa)

As perguntas com to be no tempo passado são formadas da mesma maneira que a interrogativa no tempo presente - colocando-se o verbo antes do sujeito.

Was I? - Eu estava? Eu era/
Were you? - Você estava? Você era?
Was he? - Ele era? Ele estava?
Was she? - Ela era? Ela estava?
Was it? - Ele/ela era/ Ele/ela estava?
Were we? - Nós éramos?Nós estávamos?
Were you? - Vocês eram? Vocês estavam?
Were they? Eles/elas eram? Eles/elas estavam?

Negative form (forma negativa)

Forma-se a negativa do to be no passado da mesma maneira que no presente, ou seja, colocando-se not após o verbo.

I wasn't
Eu não era. Eu não estava.

You weren't.
Você não era. Você não estava.

He wasn't.
Ele não era. Ele não estava

She wasn't.
Ela não era. Ela não estava.

It wasn't.
Ele/ela não era. Ele/ela não estava.

We weren't.
Nós não éramos. Nós não estávamos.

You weren't.
Vocês não eram. Vocês não estavam.

They weren't.
Eles/elas não eram. Eles/elas não estavam.
