There is and there are

     Inpersonal form of the verb (there is, there are) -Forma impessoal do verbo (there is, there are).

     A forma há do verbo impessoal haver verte-se para o inglês por there is quando se lhe segue um complemento no singular, e there are quando se lhe segue um complemento no plural.
Ex.:
There is a clock on the wall.
Há um relógio na parede.

There are two pictures on the wall.
Há duas fotos na parede.

A forma negativa do verbo impessoal haver forma-se em inglês, colocando-se not depois do verbo.
Ex.:
There is not a box on the table.
Há uma caixa em cima da mesa.

There are not two books on the chair.
Há dois livros em cima da cadeira.

A forma interrogativa do verbo impessoal haver, forma-se em inglês, colocando-se is ou are antes de there.
Ex.:
Is there a book on the table?
Há um livro sobre a mesa?

Are there three chairs in this room?
Há três cadeiros nesta sala?

Emprega-se yes, there is ou yes, there are, se a resposta for afirmativa; e no, there isn't ou no, there aren't, se a resposta for negativa
